IN HER OWN WORDS

My friends find it hard to believe that I, Sharon Frame, was a wall flower growing up. Yes I was the shy kid who got so nervous in class my mind would freeze if the teacher called on me to answer a question.
Despite this character weakness it seems I always had dogged determination and “that voice.” Here is an embarrassing secret I’ll share with you. When I was about 13, one of her brother’s friends fell in love with my voice on the phone and wanted to meet me in person. I was so petrified I hid in my mother’s bedroom closet and had to be dragged out to face the boy. Funny how a shy kid born in a foreign country (Jamaica) would grow up to become a CNN Anchor, award-winning journalist and renown public speaker. But that’s my back story.  Everybody’s got one.

Perhaps it was an effort to overcome my shyness that unleashed my true strength and Star Power early in life. I jumped into writing and public speaking as a teenager. By age 16, I was teaching Sunday school and two years later I won the first of several public speaking contests through the Elks Club in my home state of Connecticut.

Just like you perhaps, I had hang-ups, self-doubt and nay-sayers who didn’t believe in my ability. We are in good company! Did you know that a childhood teacher of the great physicist Albert Einstein told his father Einstein would never amount to anything?

T-V ANCHOR/REPORTER

I spent more than 20 years in local t-v news honing my journalistic skills and developing my “Star Power” as an anchor and news reporter. Hard work paid off. I chronicle my journey, including a coveted one-on-one interview with Oprah Winfrey in my book Wired To Win. With quite a few journalism awards under my belt, I moved up the ranks and gained national status in the broadcast industry when I got to CNN. In the book I also share how a demotion in local TV actually helped me land a job at CNN. Go figure!

At CNN I anchored HLN’s Weekend News, Student News and CNN Airport News. Over the years, I have written for CNN shows with Anderson Cooper, Wolf Blitzer, Paula Zahn, Kyra Phillips and HLN’S Robin Meade. I also reported for CNN’s Accent Health.

 

EMPOWERMENT SPEAKER/ STAR POWER COACH

As an empowerment speaker I have conducted countless self-development and leadership workshops, key-noted at conferences and business retreats. I am also creator and host of the annual ‘LeadHERship Empowerment Cruise” as well as a LeadHERship Academy. I’ve also been privileged to coach clients on how to:

AUTHOR/POET/CHANGE AGENT

My love of writing extends beyond personal empowerment. I’ve also written two books that focus on spiritual growth.  My latest release,  “The 67TH Book of the Bible” is a self-development study guide which offers readers a fascinating journey through the Holy Bible.  Poetry is also one of my great passions as well as reading great books and exploring the great outdoors through hiking and world travel.

I believe we are all sent to the planet to make a divine difference. Using my gifts to help people ReCharge! and get excited enough about their dreams to take action thrills me beyond words!                                                                                                                               Another passion of mine is working with my mother’s outreach program in Jamaica called Rescue the Children http://veletajspeaks.blogspot.com. We are building a community church that also offers a fun, learning environment for needy children. My desire is to also build a school and a community-based business to generate more employment in the district.

SHARON’S PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY:

I believe we all came to the planet with skills and talents that are usually hidden under hang-ups or buried in self-doubt. We are all diamonds in the rough or gold being tried in the fire. Life experiences will process us. Everyday offers new opportunities to hone our skills and unleash our brilliance. My book “Wired to Win” explores the belief that everyone of us has the potential to be wildly successful if we live in purpose, on purpose, for purpose.
